Places To Travel : Blida, Algeria
Blida is an Algerian territorial governmental entity between the wilaya of Algiers in the North East and the North West Tipaza. It has 818,223 inhabitants in 2011 against 784,283 in 1998. In Arabic it is known as El Bouleïda. Its location is unique in that its entire northern edge tends to agglomerate gradually with internal suburbs Wilaya of Algiers (Meftah Larbaa, Bougara ...). The southern part consists in large part of the town of Blida, which includes the towns of Blida and Bouarfa (Daira Blida), Beni Merad, Gherouaou Ouled Yaich and Soumaa (295,153 population in 1998).
The province consists mainly of a large plain and a mountain range in the South:
- the Mitidja plain, which stretches from West to East is a rich agricultural area. There are orchards, beekeeping, citrus, fruit trees, vines, but also industrial crops.
- Zone Atlas Blidéen and foothills, the central part of the Atlas peaks at 1600 meters, the cedar forests extend over mountains. The foothills whose altitude varies between 200 and 600 meters, presents favorable conditions for agricultural development.
