Tébessa (Arabic: ولاية تبسة) is an Algerian wilaya located in the extreme east of the country.

Tébessa is located in the far east of Algeria, it is bounded to the north by the province of Souk Ahras; to the east by Tunisia; to the west by the provinces of Khenchela and Oum El Bouaghi; to the south by the wilaya of El Oued.

The province is composed of several regions:

  • North: the mountains of Tébessa that are part of the Atlas, the Highlands and the High Plains. 
  • In the South: the Saharan area consisting of a Saharan plateau.

Tébessa is a zone of transition weather, it is distinguished by four bioclimatic zones: the sub-humid (400-500 mm / year), very limited, it is limited to the tops of some ridges (Jebel Serdies and Jebel Bouroumane ); the Semi-arid (300-400 mm / year), covers the entire northern part of the province; the Sub-arid (200-300 mm / year) covers the steppe plateaus; the arid and Saharan mild (less than 200 mm / year), extends beyond the Saharan Atlas.
